Real DMC floss numbers, not screen colours

Every square is matched to the DMC 454-colour range, so the thread list is a list of numbers you can shop by. Pick a colour you like and the pattern is rebuilt from the closest real floss to it. The list says which threads the design uses and how many stitches each one covers — buy by the number, not by the colour on your screen.

One symbol per colour, and no confetti

Counted patterns give every thread its own symbol, because two close shades are impossible to tell apart in a 4 mm square. Barely-used colours are dropped and their squares handed to the nearest remaining thread, so you are not chasing single confetti stitches across the fabric. Point at any square to see its floss number.

Print it at the size you will stitch

Choose 3, 4 or 5 mm per square and the pattern is split across A4 pages, with bold lines every ten squares that line up between sheets. Each page carries a 10 mm ruler so you can check your printer did not scale it, and the footer states the finished size on fabric — not the size of the paper
