Information

This round slate coaster features the intricate inner workings of a mechanical watch, including interlocking gears, screws, bridges, wheels, and precision components. The highly detailed engraving creates the appearance of looking directly inside a vintage timepiece. Natural variations in the black slate give the design an industrial, handcrafted character, while the contrasting stone-gray engraving allows each mechanical element to stand out. It’s an ideal project for watch enthusiasts, engineers, collectors, or steampunk décor fans.

Step1

I prepared the detailed watch movement artwork by refining the contrast and sharpening the smallest mechanical components for engraving. The image was carefully sized and centered to follow the coaster’s round shape while maintaining a balanced border. It was engraved using Jarvis bitmap processing at 100% power, 200 mm/s speed, and 100 lines per centimeter. After engraving, I cleaned the slate surface to reveal the gears, screws, brushed-metal textures, and precise linework throughout the finished design.
